How to shrink an audio file:

  1. Select a single audio file (MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, FLAC, etc.)
  2. Pick a preset, or open Advanced options for full manual control
  3. Optionally enter a target file size to auto-calculate the MP3 bitrate
  4. Click "Shrink File" – re-encoding happens locally in your browser
  5. Compare the before/after size and download the smaller file

About Shrinking

MP3 output shrinks mainly by lowering bitrate — fewer bits per second of audio, smaller file. WAV is uncompressed, so its size only drops when you lower the sample rate or switch to mono.

For the smallest possible file, choose MP3 with a low bitrate. For maximum compatibility with a moderate size cut, choose WAV with a reduced sample rate.

All the controls you need live in the Advanced options panel on the left.
